Deep Purple - In Rock

When I was at university, one of my flat mates loved to play this really loud (which is how it must be played, of course), but not so good for those of us trying to study Bach!

Sometimes only HMHB will do. This Leaden Pall on Probe Plus CD. Always enjoy the stream of consciousness lyrics on ‘Improv Workshop Mimeshow Gobshite’ - heaven knows what inspired it, maybe a theatrical outreach project in Tranmere. Also the prog masterpiece that is ‘13 Eurogoths Floating in the Dead Sea’ (step aside Tales of Topographic Cobblers).

Unbelievably, Ms Reno is just 16, and can certainly sing and has bags of talent. However, I’m not sure her voice is to my taste, although the arrangements – by pianist Emmet Cohen – are very good.
