Great blues. And oh so easy to imagine him, maybe forty years ago, some Friday evening, knocking out earlier versions of the same, on the upright in the corner of the JCR of an Oxbridge college. Several beers, a mate on bass, an appreciative audience, meaningful glances, and an essay due on Monday morning.

Was comparing a bit, while I appreciate Gould’s Goldberg, his being different recipe doesn’t work so good in this case and I would prefer Korliov’s cleaner approach, why also not the reference recording for me…
