As well as his ECM stuff, please do check out
Burton’s earlier, sometimes rawer and harder, albums: Gary Burton and Keith Jarrett on Atlantic is A1 superb, there’s always Throb of course, but Live in San Francisco on CBS (I forget the exact title) etc are pretty darn great. I prefer his earlier music tbh.

These may of course be on that compilation you noted (I don’t have it), but just in case…

And there’s also his Tong Funeral album with the great Carla Bley.

This one is good too, with Larry Coryell, Steve Swallow and Bobby Moses:
