What are you listening to in 2022 and why might anyone be interested

Chris - it is a very well recorded LP. The metalwork was created back in the early 90s (the last time Sony let anyone play the master tapes) by Bernie Grundman from the original 3-track tape. NO EQ was applied. This pressing is from Grundman’s plates - what is supposed to be better is the vinyl, which is supposed to be more revealing, quieter etc.

Bruford - One of a Kind

This was posted by @ratrat on another thread. I’ve not really listened to Bruford outside of Yes and King Crimson, and have not been able to really tune into Allan Holdsworth beyond Soft Machine, Gong or Tony Williams’s Lifetime. However, since rat rat was singing it’s praises I couldn’t resist. First play and so far I’d say it’s very enjoyable. It’ll certainly get some more visits.

Now playing…

John Mellencamp - Strictly A One-Eyed Jack

John Mellencamp (Acoustic Guitar, Vocals), Dane Clark (Drums, Percussion), John Gunnell (Bass), Troye Kinnett (Accordion, Harmonica, Organ, Piano), Merritt Lear (Violin, Vocals), Bruce Springsteen (Electric Guitar, Vocals), Miriam Sturm (Violin), Joey Tartell (Trumpet) and Andy York (Autoharp, Banjo, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Vocals).

Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… kicking off this Monday morning with John and his newly released album from January 20, 2022 and he and the band are sounding sublime! Out of town for a short visit up to Orcas Island for some quiet R&R in between some winter wet and cool hiking. A lot of gray damp days and outside of the sound of the falling rain and wind nothing but peace and quiet. …peace and quite, exercise, reading and relaxing, a lovely break from the day to day routine back home in the city.

I knew it!

Sorry @TheKevster at least your honesty can be respected.
I strongly believe that people often buy these sort of records with hyped expectations, when the dissapointment hits home rather than lose face they post shallow comments regurgitating hyperbole they’ve read like “the best I’ve ever heard it”, without any points of reference, on forums like this whilst posting vinyl porn pics for the other sheep to baaa over and follow

Even Chad’s mate Mikey Fremer who isnt someone I view as impartial when talking Chad and AP

The two Classic Records reissues sound closest to the new UHQR and to suggest that the UHQR is a “must have” if you have either of those or the Quiex 200g version would be hyperbolic so I’m not going to suggest that,
He does then, probably not to upset Chad, add a lot of hyperbole in the interests of balance presumably

I can not for the life of me remember when I last played this, certainly a long long time ago!
I just wish I hadn’t lost my Warriors on the Edge of Time. So I’m thinking of having a wee look on Discogs for a nice copy.

Emitt Rhodes - The Emitt Rhodes Recordings (1969-1973). This arrived in the post today and I’m giving CD1 of this two CD compilation a spin. I wanted to get this after enjoying his 2016 release, Rainbow Ends, and I can see why he was labelled “the one-man Beatles”.

Dug this one out of the attic. Not universally loved, but I believe it has some cracking tracks. Wings’ Back to the Egg. Macca should remaster and reissue this one…

For some unknown reason got a Can earworm of Mother Sky. Only one thing to do, dig out my ancient UA copy of Soundtracks and play the thing. Never cease to be amazed at how endlessly inventive the band were.
