Mozart - ‘Figaro’ (Highlights), Sir George Solti (1986). Bought at charity shop recently. Very enjoyable CD of the highlights of Mozart’s opera.
Mike Oldfield - ‘Tubular Bells’ (1973). I have a few recordings of this from vinyl, ‘boxed’ vinyl to recentish CD issues. This is the first CD issue from 1984. Sometimes the early CD mixes are the best, before the ‘loudness’ thing so thought I would try it, not that my other versions are at all bad. Bought from a bargain box at Exeter Record Fair last weekend.

Done Piper in mono, so now it’s time for Saucer in monophonic:
Al Di Meola - ‘Casino’ (1978). Al’s third solo electric fusion album with an impressive cast and very enjoyable high energy Latin tinged fusion it is too. ‘Son of Elegant Gypsy’.
Al Di Meola - ‘Tour de Force - Live’ (1982). A live collection of tracks from Al’s first four electric solo albums. This is great jazz fusion given the extra energy of live performance.
Thanks
Zero 7. Debut Album. I’m not a great fan of synthetic music as a rule. On our hols now with only my iPod and my wife streaming from her phone. She has introduced me to these guys having found them on play lists. They are really very good.

First of my nights listening….
I remember going into Selectadisc in Nottingham on way home from college and being given a listen to it - happy days then and still sounds amazing.
And it’s going to get better - new dc cable installed and picking up my shortened legs for the rack - so dac will get it’s own shelf and core shares with mf phono - I wonder if that might change to a stageline?
Tangerine Dream - ‘Ricochet’ (1975). The first live album from the great days of Froese, Franke, Baumann. One extended piece on each side. Great TD, fast systhesiser work and atmospheric solo sections with acoustic instruments too. A masterly transition between the style of ‘Rubycon’ and the next studio album ‘Stratosfear’.
Thanks! Many years since I last heard that. A 28 year old Holdsworth at his finest.
