Whilst the rest of the band made Carl & The Passions, Brian concentrated on this, American Spring. (1972).
Counters the myth that Brian was a spent force after SMiLE, rather he was making an altogether different kind of folksy music with his wife and her sister.
The Beach Boys’ version of Darlin’ is one of their best late 60s singles, and there’s a fantastic girl group rendition here, too, titled Thinking About You, Baby, it’s original title.
