23.10 : Toots and the Maytals: Reggae Got Soul.
“A profile of Toots Hibbert, featuring an interview with the reggae musician and archive footage of his performances.”
00.10 : OGWT
“A concert specially recorded for Whistle Test from the Reggae Concert at the Edinburgh Festival, featuring the Cimarons, Winston Groovy, Dennis Alcapone, the Marvels, Nicky Thomas and the Pioneers. Introduced by Judge Dread. First shown in 1973”
Played a fair amount of this when I saw them headline Reading festival in the early 80’s
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother
I wonder if there’s a picture of any other holstein friesian cow which has been printed and copied as many times as this one? Just think of the royalties it could have collected.
I’ve played it all the way through once and again for side one. In my view this is one of their best records.
Hank Mobley No Room For Squares / 2000 Blue Note / EU CD / RVG Edition / 724352453924
Hank Mobley Tenor Saxophone
Lee Morgan, Donald Byrd Trumpet
Herbie Hancock, Andrew Hill Piano
Butch Warren, John Ore Bass
Philly Joe Jones Drums
Saw them many times, they were a great live band and always put on a superb show.
I’m guessing that this is to celebrate the 50th anniversary re-release of ‘The Harder They Come’ at cinemas?
The Black Keys - Dropout Boogie.
No real surprises here, just The Keys’ usual rough edged boogie, with The Reverend Billy featured on one track.
Released today, despite deciding to shun the music business and living in Cumbria he continued to write over 500 sings and record many of them at home. This label persuaded him to release them….. if you liked his earlier music, this is a great album. For those that are unfamiliar he was part of the Southend music scene and wrote down at the Doctors for
Dr Feel good.
