That this pioneering piece of electronica came out in 1968 is actually pretty shocking…

Fancied listening to some Jackie Leven, but which album to choose? So many to pick from. Eventually plumped for Creatures of Light & Darkness.

I had to download the Hi Res version of this album despite having the original release and the 30th anniversary CD.

This 50th anniversary Hi Res is a revelation.

Visconti has done a great job. Mick Ronson is spectacular but the star of the show is Trevor Bolder his bass playing is much more audible and shows what great player he was.

Missing are the two Wendy Carlos pieces: intro Beethoven 9th and after the interval the William Tell Overture.

But we do get to hear Jeff Beck at last.

Al verte las flores lloran (When they see you, the flowers weep), 1969.

To finish the week: one of my most treasured CDs.

The cover just doesn’t get any better with time, thankfully the music is wonderful.
