St. Vincent, mass education.
Grant Huau - Awa Blues. Native New Zealander. Plays a mean guitar. Not sure why this makes me think of French rock bands, but it does.
Tommy Bolin is just amazing on the track Quadrant 4 - just when you think he has pushed it to the limit - he steps up a gear.
The Tommy Bolin guitar work on this is great.
What did I just say
Great minds…?
I’ve been trying - with no success at all - to find a new LP of ‘On The Boards’, to replace my copy, which must be at least 30 years old.
Is yours a new copy, TC, and do you remember where you bought it?
I vividly remember sneaking out of my boarding house at school in Edinburgh, as a young teenager, to see Taste at the Usher Hall. Rory Gallagher’s Strat was as battered as it’s possible to imagine.
PS I’ve just looked online, and I see that Fender are selling a Rory Gallagher replica guitar for upwards of £4 grand. Who buys these things?
Public Service Broadcasting - Inform Educate Entertain - CD
With the price of 1st postage going up again, this sprung to mind and the track Night Mail.
OTB was reissued and remastered (no details on who cut it) in 2016. No idea if it was a good remaster as I only have the original.
Not on Amazon or Ebay though. May be a small run, though not a ltd edition from what I can see.
Blackfield - Blackfield II, 2013 vinyl reissue…
Thanks, SB, do you know where I might find a copy?
I love the album, but I don’t think that my ancient LP is doing my Dynavector TKR much good to play it.
That’s an album on my Adams list.
Interested to hear your opinion of it.
Seal was an unusual one hit wonder. I had that album, and imagined that it would be just the start of great things.
I’d try independent record shops, Graham. Same online - Juno perhaps? I was surprised not to find it on the two sites I mentioned.
Coincidentally, I’ve just bought an EX/possibly NM (I hope) copy from Ebay, first or second press, £30… this’ll be my third (first copy got ‘borrowed’ way back, and the second sleeve is getting past it now).
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away. Just listened to this - what a wonderful album it is.
I will go into one of the specialist vinyl shops in Brighton, and see if they can magic up a new copy.
Good hunting
