Yes, I listened, didn’t enjoy much of what I heard, and decided to shelve it for another few tears.
A travesty and missed opportunity that the original musicians weren’t invited to perform this masterpiece of an album.
Current lineup is,in my judgement, a circus act.
That’s better.
Pre 1977 Crash 3 X CD box set. Well the box set came later but you know what I mean.
Jimmy Scott - The Source
From 1970 this album has a beautiful version of ‘On Broadway’
Nice that Jimmy had a resurgence in his career courtesy of David Lynch and Lou Reed.
My experience of the remix was the opposite - like you I didn’t much like the original Animals (I did keep trying through several plays) but the remix was a revelation. Brought the music alive for me.
Bear in mind that I came very late to the album (and the later Floyd albums in general) so I had no years of listening memory that the original evoked.
Great remix imho👌
John Prine - John Prine - CD
Another blast from the past, John is another long time fav, and sadly missed, I couldn’t make my mind up which to play, so went back to the beginning.
Brilliant album with some absolute classics ‘Hello in There’, ‘Sam Stone’ and the brilliant ‘Angel from Montgomery’.
Most artists would have been content with just one of those songs.
All great tracks, “Hello In There” is a personal all time favourite track, in my top 10, I also like David Allan Coe’s version from the same named album (1985)
Bette Midler also did a fine version.
She did indeed as did Joan Baez, even Roger Waters has covered it, it’s a great song.
Mantric Muse : Mantric Muse (CD Rip)
If you like the Ozric Tentacles this should be right up your street, some tripped out instrumental space rock
