I love this. The live performance is brilliant.
Keeping to Bowie - forgot I’d got this….
Bowie - Rare
Not sure exactly if it is rare - perhaps one of the experts might know?
Some of those tracks at the time were very rare - i.e the Italian vocal version of Space Oddity. Majority were rare-ish b-sides. A great compilation.
My favourite track on the album has always been the live version of Panic In Detroit - some stellar guitar work courtesy of Earl Slick!
Earl Slick was just brilliant on that tour his guitar tone is just awesome - achieved with an SG Junior, MXR 90 effect and a Marshall Stack.
I like the extended Paul Buckmaster cello at the end of Ragazzo solo, ragazza sola
‘Fly By Night’ - Rush
Following @QuickSticks example and heading back to CD tonight with some Rush.
How do they sound? To quote Tony Frostie, "They’re Gr-r-reat!
It’s the only album I don’t own on CD.
I have 2 copies on Vinyl however😊
I’ve just worked out that album alone is 40 years old - bought in 1983!
And who said vinyl doesn’t last - it got hammered on an old gerrard turntable that I got from my dad - unfortunately it wasn’t one of the sought after decks now - and I’m sure I’d got an old 2p coin sellotaped on the headshell - shouldn’t really be admitting that
I bought it on cassette and played it to death in the car.
Gene Krupa - Krupa & Rich - CD
Gene Krupa & Buddy Rich and a host of other well known Jazz Musicians
Seem to remember taping it onto one side of a TDK SA90 and listening via a Sanyo (not Sony) Walkman….(thingy)
Oh the joys….
Free - Free
Back in another lifetime (one of toil and blood), when first learning the art of browsing record shops. This is the sort of album cover you’d flick past thinking what is that all about.
Sadly a paper round payday only went so far.
A wonderful album.
Keeping the Rush thing going. @QuickSticks I was going to go for the classic combo of A Farewell to Kings & Hemispheres but suddenly fancied a bit of live action. So headphones are on and at the required volume!
I used to play this one pretty much everyday back in the day.
I think I’ll play it for the first time in years tomorrow
