Leon Russell - Leon Russell - CD
On the 13th Nov 2016, Leon Russell died in Nashville, he was 74. He led Joe Cocker’s band Mad Dogs & Englishmen, and appeared at George Harrison’s 1971 Concert for Bangladesh. Many of his songs became hits for others, among them ‘Superstar’ for the Carpenters, ‘Delta Lady’ for Joe Cocker and ‘This Masquerade’ for George Benson. More than 100 acts have recorded ‘A Song for You,’ which Russell said he wrote in 10 minutes, it seems rather appropriate to give this a spin.
Must have been Cold, Cold, Cold on the walk then? Or was it cloudy and You Got No Shadow? Maybe icy underfoot so it was Easy To Slip? OK, I know, stop it now…
Haven’t listened to this in an age but provided some adolescent memories to power some decent results for this mornings ride in the cabin.
From the Charisma years box set.
Always an intriguing album - tracks like Steppenwolf are brilliant, whereas others such as The Aubergine…never been sure what I think of them…
Focus Focus 3 / 2001 Red Bullet / Netherlands CD / RB66189
Starting Monday with this excellent recording because I haven’t played it in about 6 months. Back in the day when I first bought it on LP, around the time of release, it would be getting a spin several times a week!
Sunny, rainy, windy in Yorkshire this morning.

Whatever you do, don’t Google that album.
You’ll get bombarded with unwanted popups/emails.
Well I assume they’d be unwanted.
