I sometimes treat myself to some SACD recordings of my favourite old music and this is one of them in Hi-Res Mono. This album was one of the first I ever bought and played to destruction.
Done with side A. Wonderful so far.
If it continues like this, Mr Jarrett can be satisfied with perhaps his last album.
Vanessa-Mae “The Violin Player” . Great Violin melodies. Classic mixed with rock makes interesting and different music.
On vinyl: Bonnie Raitt - Nick Of Time. I’m not sure where this was pressed, but it’s a fine sounding bit of vinyl.
Miles and band with feet in both camps - pre and post Bitches Brew.
Yes, this 1969-70 era is my favourite Miles period.
Muddy Waters - Sings “Big Bill”, the songs of “Big Bill” Broonzy.
Some more vinyl
This seems to have got lots of mixed reviews at the time of release in 1981 but I have always loved it and saw her touring this album in a barn somewhere near Navan, Co. Meath that same year (I think!!). Great backing band, produced by Tony Visconti and contains a fabulous version of The Stranglers’ “Hanging Around”.
Most probably a warm up gig for the very first Slane Castle gig headlined by Thin Lizzy in August 1981.
She was good there too!

Some late night listening with the new Karousel, Kore and Trampolin fitted……sounds pretty awesome right now….
I was at that Slane gig in 1981 as well, not in the traditional “bowl” by the river which has been the venue since 1982. I remember Thin Lizzy and U2 but can’t remember anyone else! I must be getting old!
