Nithin Sawhney ’ Beyond Skin ". Blend of classical, drum’n’bass, jazz, hip-hop …
Excellent !
The first Trane album I ever heard and its remained a favourite of mine ever since. A very undervalued/overlooked recording imo
John Coltrane with Red Garland - Soultrane (OJC/Prestige)
It’s a Qobuz stream so info is limited. Seems to be dated 1995 but recording venu is not stated. Sorry.
Ringing the changes with something way outside my normal listening spectrum. Unthank:Smith (one of the Unthank ladies and the dude from Maximo Park) and an album of traditional North East songs plus one original - Nowhere and Everywhere. Very atmospheric - unusual instrumentation and two lovely regional voices that wrap around each other.
I
I don’t even play vinyl these days but felt I had to have the deluxe set to obtain the promising bonus cd’s. Pre ordered before the great man passed away. Maybe I will have to dust off the old turntable!!
The weather is rubbish so time for some tunes.
On vinyl:
After a longer listening break than I wanted, people keep calling me🤦🏻♂️, I’m back and I have gone for some Camel.
Not Rain Dances, but The Snow Goose.
Thanks anyway. I’ll have a listen myself on Qobuz.
Just cant stop it…
Another favourite of the period
Bahia (OJC/Prestige)
The liner notes on this one are particularly interesting, listening today its hard to believe that this music provoked such a vitriolic backlash from the Jazz police back then.
CAMEL - " Harbour of Tears " , " Rajaz " , " A Nod and a Wink " . I like a lot these three CAMEL albums made between 1996 and 2002.
On Vinyl:
Everything but the girl - the language of life
It’s getting difficult to find Rajaz at a reasonable price and it’s not on Qobuz. The only way I’ve found to listen to it is through YouTube.
Mrs QS is home from her meeting and has turned on the infernal Windows machine.
As it gobbles up all the small amount of bandwidth, I’m back to analogue for the rest of the afternoon🤷🏻♂️
Side two from the trusty LP12, that could give a damn about ‘Windows’ and bandwidth…
