Emily Remler Quartet - Take Two
What an astonishing talent, which was taken way too soon. I wish I’d met her when I had the opportunity.
Donald Byrd - Byrd in Hand - 1959
It’s been a real treat playing a few of his albums in the past months, wonderful.
Emily Remler - Firefly
Her first album.
Yvonne Elliman - Night Flight, saw her two or three times as part of Clapton’s band, distinctive voice.
Enjoying…
After a few random tracks, steadily ‘breaking in’ my newly purchased Quad ERA-1s with this promising album from Keb’ Mo’ - thanks to @johnt for the music choice and the guys at AudioT Cardiff esp. Matt for great service in my hunt for a (huge) step up from my ageing (but still great) HD600s.
Superb tonal balance, confirming my recent home demo and out the box getting better and better and more musical by the track.
The range and definition of the bass from these cans is stand out for me and hope to test this again in a few hours / tomorrow.
Sublime

New to me. Bought from Bandcamp. Strangely what amazes me is that this is from 1998 and in 1998 my work computer hard drive was 1.5GB and this was a similar size and was downloaded in about 25 seconds. This type of music still sounds “new” and “modern” to my ears.

You could well be right there @Gazza; playing my stand out favourite album from Mary Black…
Successor ‘Babes in the Wood’ runs a close second, then ‘Circus’, and then her music became less memorable to me.
May have said this before but once saw Declan Sinnott accompany Christy Moore on a tour a few years back and was curious to see about half a dozen or so (eight IIRC) guitars and other stringed instruments arranged behind him (Christy had two-three IIRC by comparison) and he played every one on selected tracks through the concert and in such a modest but exceptional way. A truly under-celebrated musical talent imho.

Sade, diamond life. Haha, was wondering why no one posted anything and then it flooded in. The forum engine must work by some batch job. Noticed I played the same album @AlanP did. So many good suggestions to go onto now too! Have a great weekend everyone!
Saw Mary Black on the Babes in the wood tour at the RAH, just wonderful, Declan very much the musical director.
Not surprised, not a huge amount on the net about him but I sense(d) his musical talent and skill is innate and must flow through his veins. I heard him at St David’s Hall, Cardiff and was mightily impressed (which IIRC led me to his solo albums, the earlier one which is also very good is not currently/no longer in the Qobuz catalogue ).
