Emily Remler, firefly. Thanks heaps @Clive for mentioning her. Don’t know her but so sad she left at 32.

Wayne Shorter - Super Nova

Includes the beautiful track ‘Dindi’ the only recording by Maria Booker - heart breaking vocal performance. You don’t need to understand the language to feel the emotion.

Also, includes guitarists John McLaughlin and the brilliant Sonny Sharrock.

A big favourite in Bhoyo Towers.

Larry Coryell & Emily Remler. Together. There’s something special with duets, complementing each other and exchanging musical dialogs. :relaxed:

Stepping it up a bit with this one…

‘Eliminator’ was my first (and infectiously memorable) introduction to ZZ Top as a teenager, but (having looked further into their catalogue since) some of their early work is exceptional, including this album and the superb ‘La Grange’.

The guitars :guitar: underpin some great tracks.

Sounds sublime.

Lisa Haley - King Cake

Having spotted that it’s her 90th birthday, it seems only fair to be giving this a spin

Just playing that track now and yes, the guitar playing is very reminiscent. To me, an extremely well recorded (and very open soundstage) sound, and pretty silky-smooth voice from Sinead, means this one is now being played in full.

Thanks @Gazza :ok_hand:

Sublime
Qobuz/Roon 44.1/16

Edit: Warning :warning: IMHO this ‘straightforward’ album has reinforced my long-term view that it doesn’t matter how ‘good’ a system it is being played on, and no matter what resolution (this is ‘bog standard’ 44.1/16) is stated, it’s the quality of the master and production that is vital - and this imho is a perfect example. :ok_hand:

Further edit: Just listened to ‘If I Go’ - beautiful track :ok_hand:

The sleeve of that album is the best I’ve seen and I own over 1000 albums.

As you said great live band, great energy but some of the more musical tracks written by Colin Townes are outstanding. Very underestimated writer and player.

Unfortunately I find that WS’s version “too busy”. Astrud Gilberto’s English version is better and as Jobim intended I think.
