Great choice. I’ve enjoyed many of his albums over the years.

Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… while exercising today I had played one of my playlists and the last song was Boz’s “Your Good Thing (Is About To End)” and thought that would be the first album to play after I cleaned up… So now continuing this afternoon with the Boz with a little blues and swing and he and the band are sounding sublime! This is a very fine album…

the version I picked up is the Bowie mix remastered by Iggy Pop.
I’ve not heard Iggy’s mix yet so can’t compare

The Iggy mix is totally different from the Bowie mix.

Legend had it that Iggy and the Stooges who were with Bowie’s management at the time were flown to London to record the album and decided to save money on getting in a producer and do it themselves. The money could then be spent on more interesting stuff.

The result was a disaster so Bowie’s manager had to get Bowie in to salvage the album.

Many years later Iggy himself remixed the album. Both mixes have their merits.

I’d heard this.
getting things via internet can make it difficult to check which version of anything is being sent - It was only when it arrived that I saw the bowie mix / Iggy remaster in the information.
At some point I may get to her the other version to compare.

I listened to the PIL album on headphones and on system last night.
It’s one of those albums where my feelings can shift from ‘this is brilliant’ to ‘this is a shambles’ quite quickly - indeed I had both feelings at the same time at points…

I’d recommend his “Hope & Other Casualties”. I’d also highly recommend, in a similar vein, “Ghost Repeater” by Jeffery Foucault together with any of his back-catalogue.

Chinese Wall. 12" Single . Just love this song, reminds me of dancing in a Tunisian Nightclub in 1985.
It’s a collaboration between Phil Collins and Phil Bailey, ( of “Break Wind and Fire”). I heard Collins once say it was one of the best things he did.
