What are you listening to in 2023 and why might anyone be interested?

Melody Gardot, worrisome heart.

Don’t know what all this fuss regarding a new release is all about :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon on this brilliant sacd.

Another vote for being a bit disappointed after the first play at the weekend. The gloominess is not unexpected and I’ll certainly give it another go.
Ultra getting a spin from this long-time Mode fan.

A change of format and a change in music - couldn’t resist a little more Kraftwerk….

Letting the 282/250 do their stuff - amazing the difference from 202/200!

Marti Caine. They Definitely don’t make them like this anymore these days.

(I had such a crush on her on Blankety Blank)

Jimmy Barnes - Soul Deep, as perhaps the album title suggests, a collection of '60’s and '70’s soul covers.

Who could resist a bossa version of Guns of Brixton, sung with a French accent? Gets quite a heavy rotation chez Rigsby.

Diana Krall, the look of love.

Something a little less hi-fi….

An original copy of what later appeared on the reissue of the first Tubeway Army album back in the day!

Must admit it’s not actually my copy - it’s been on loan for forty odd years - lost touch with original owner!

Got to say that for a non-official recording made 45 years ago - in mono - in a club - probably on someone’s portable tape player that sounds bloody brilliant on my system….

Surprised by this 2022 release. A few ‘typical’ symphonic metal riffs/songs which will probably put most of you off, but some really lovely slower songs in places, what a melodic voice Clémentine Delauney has when she doesn’t try too hard and sings naturally.

Maybe it has a ‘musical theatre’ feel in places, at other times there are folky/Celtic elements, ultimately nothing complex or challenging but strangely enjoyable.

That’s bound to have put everyone off!

What a lovely duet (track 5) ‘Freedom’.

Third vinyl purchase made in a week, that’s pretty unusual these days.

Can’t really explain why but this may be a firm favourite of 2023 (unlike the other two rather impulsive purchases I think I may regret).

Oh heck, is that a re-release?

I feel another vinyl purchase rapidly approaching.

 Too late possibly from the usual sources…

Another thrift store pickup - I hadn’t heard of them, but it seemed intriguing enough to give it a try. It’s in decent but not great shape with more than a little surface noise:

Update - the noise was enough to make me stop playing - too bad, the music was excellent. I may try a really deep wet cleaning and see if I can salvage it.

Another thrift store LP I took a flyer on; smooth jazz genre - bought it based on Lee Ritenour’s inclusion:

This one is in very good shape.
