It’s a great song and at the time I thought that HMHB’s take on poor old Don was a bit vicious but after reading about his wife and daughter’s life I find it hard to feel the same way about his output.

But I am aware that one has to be able to separate the artist from the art, as one’s memories and associations cannot be undone.

Very true, sometimes it also makes hypocrites out of us. I can remember seeing photos of Bowie in a nazi uniform in the 70s but I still listen to his music.
