What are you listening to in 2024 and why might anyone be interested?

Somewhere back in the mists of time there was a thread on “the most haunting song” and in my opinion Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourkes Sanctuary” was a clear winner… roll on to now and YTube had an analysis video entitled Is this the most haunting song… (the subject of that was, June Carter’s sister, Anita Carter with 1962’s Voice of the Bayou).

That reminded me to give Lisa / Dead can Dance another listen.

I know it’s a ‘best of…’ but what the heck covers a wide range of the output

Bryan Ferry. 1994. Not played this in ages.

Ferry, Eno and a host of famous musicians make this sound polished and slick. The problem is the songs, I think they were polishing turds.

The Rolling Stones - Some Girls - CD (1978)

46 years ago, The Rolling Stones started a two-week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Some Girls’, the group’s seventh US No.1 album. The cover designed by Peter Corriston, featured The Rolling Stones in garish drag alongside select female celebrities and lingerie ads. The cover immediately ran into trouble when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minnelli (representing her mother Judy Garland), Raquel Welch, and the estate of Marilyn Monroe who all threatened legal action.
