Was reading an interview with Jeff “skunk” Baxter of Dan And Doobies……he really likes this guys vocals….nothing wrong there.
Thought i would give him a spin……not for me.
Placebo - Ball of Eyes (1971). Not the 90s indie rockers, but Belgian jazz maestro Marc Moulin’s fusion band from the early seventies. Opens with a great version of Marvin Gaye’s Inner City Blues. Lot of good stuff happening in Belgium in the Seventies.
Having seen the acoustic version last night it’s the full band country techno schtick with oodles of brass. Alabama 3 Cold War Classics Vol 2 Tidalised. Magnifique!
Gerry Mulligan - baritone saxophone, piano on track 1 only Art Farmer - flugelhorn Bob Brookmeyer - valve trombone Jim Hall - guitar Bill Crow - bass Dave Bailey - drums
Recorded at Nola Penthouse Studios, New York City. Sept 1962
