Joining @TheKevster @Tabbycat & @steviebee with some Dead.
It’s 29 years to the day Jerry Garcia guitarist and singer from the Grateful Dead died from a heart attack at the Serenity Knolls rehabilitation clinic in San Francisco aged 53.
On Vinyl:
Boy George - This is what I do
The American Analog Set - The Golden Band
Couldn’t resist this one after reading this review - it is a magnificent album.
“The record insinuates itself on the strength of a subtly expanded emotional palette which lends a haunting new dimension to the group’s fragile beauty”
Now playing…
Charles Lloyd - Trios: Ocean
Charles Lloyd (Alto Flute, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone), Gerald Clayton (Piano), Anthony Wilson (Guitar).
Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… kicking off this Friday morning with Charles Lloyd and this fantastic trio and they are sounding sublime! In his mid 80’s and still going strong… I did see Charles perform the Ocean album with Anthony Wilson on Guitar and Harish Raghavan on Bass in November 2022 and loved the performance!
B.J. Cole - The New Hovering Dog
Pedal Steel Guitarist to the stars. Chances are you own one album where he appears.
This album from 1972 features Francis Monkman, Tristram Fry and Danny Thompson.
This arrived today and I’ve just finished spinning the first of the two LPs in this exemplary reissue. It’s fantastic, definitely a bazillion times better than the dodgy (CD sourced I think) grey market vinyl issue I had previously. According to the notes in the booklet, Alex Wharton of Abbey Road went back to the original tapes and remastered them using vintage gear. The sound is excellent and the pressing on “crystal clear” vinyl is excellent too.
Onto the second disc, of out-and-alternate takes.
@Bobthebuilder - buy with confidence, I reckon.
Deadmau5 - > album title goes here <
First play of the vinyl version…. Great artwork and vinyl as usual!
