Chris Rea - Hofner Blue Notes 2003
His 19th studio album so named because his first electric guitar was a 1961 Höfner V3 bought from a second-hand shop while he was working in his father’s ice cream factory in early 1970s.
A follow up to this album is the 2008 The Return of The Fabulous Hofner Blue Notes.

I think the best thing about the advent of streaming is that it allows you to embark on a voyage of discovery and discover new artists. Although these guys launched this album in 2011 they are a new find for me. Pretty low-Fi and raw but wonderfully engaging music and well worse a listen.

Plan B - The Defamation of Strickland Banks.

So, yer mate says " You need to listen to this, it’s brilliant".

“So”, sez me, “Who’s this Plan B bloke then?”

“He’s a rapper, (white), from the East End of London”.

“Yer ‘avin’ a bleedin’ larf, aintcha?”

“Na, just listen”.

Blimey, a Tamla Motown album, from Woolwich?

How cool was that then, and still sounds great, to this day.

Great choons just do it.
