New album by Nick Cave, Wild God. I am not always convinced by Nick Cave albums (I have found most of his output since The Boatman’s Call to be a touch disappointing) but I must say, on first listen this sounds magnificent

Some have complained that Qobuz and Tidal versions are compressed. How does the CD or vinyl sound?

I’ve been streaming it and thought it sounded ok. Probably buy a hi res version eventually.

I’m away at the moment, so can’t try on main rig yet. I’m intending to buy CD, but will try Qobuz on Astell and Kern. Interesting different perceptions.

Only listened on qobuz and it does sound non-audiophile - I suspect caused by the way it was engineered and produced, so I doubt that future formats change that. But the artistic and emotional impact of the album overrides this for me.
