I have hundreds of Pink Floyd bootlegs, on vinyl, CD and on a hard drive. My favourite live era is 1969/70, when they were still improvising and experimenting, every gig was different and lots of weird tunes and curveballs featured in their sets.
This CD was recorded on 28th November 1970 at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken, West Germany (although there is some uncertainty about whether it was recorded on this night at that venue). Sound quality is excellent for the time, and the band’s performance and setlist is fantastic:
Fat Old Sun – 14min Atom Heart Mother (no orchestra but lots of tape FX) – 19 min Libest Spacement Monitor (a title almost certainly invented by the bootleggers; also sometimes titled “Corrosion”, this was a long improvised instrumental, a bit similar to “Moonhead” and the middle freak-out section of “Interstellar Overdrive”, that they performed 1969-71) – 10 min Embryo - 12 min Green Is The Colour – 3.5 min A Saucerful Of Secrets (a really good, noisy version) – 19 min
