We attended a concert at Painswick Church with this work performed by Ensemble La Notte with soloists Jennifer Thorne and Mark Wilson. It was a wonderful performance with the soloists so engaging as they sang next to each as Mary mourning her crucified son. It was very tender.

Mark is director of music at Pembroke College as well as being a very active baroque musician and conductor of Standish Consort (a small Oxbridge alumni choir). Jenn used to sing with us before resuming her professional career. The performance was recorded and will probably be available soon.

A perfect album by an innovative band who never seemed to get their full recognition.

I think Secret Treaties is their finest album, so many great songs. Side 2 just floors me every time

I must admit, I haven’t listened to this in a while, which is big mistake

I did Ewe. Looking forward to hearing it.
