What are you listening to in 2024 and why might anyone be interested?

Fast forward only slightly to the early 80s, when I was in sixth form, it was most likely, Still or Movement, possibly Lexicon Of Love for a week or two, Handsworth Revolution and most definitely Sandinista over London Calling. Though Combat Rock had come out then and blown the rebel facade to dust.

Top cool points went to ACR’s To Each or any of the first few Durutti Column records.

That woman certainly has a lot of trouble keeping her clothes on.

Which is somewhat surprising as it’s none too warm in New Jersey.

Suzanne Vega, Close Up Series.

First day back at work and weather is grim, so she is bringing some delicate light to a miserable day.

Adrian Gurvitz - Classic

I was looking through a couple of boxes of 7” singles yesterday when I came upon the title track from this album, released as a single in 1982. I don’t dare play singles anymore, so I’m playing this from Qobuz.

The Monks - Bad Habits

Another single I found yesterday was The Monks: Nice Legs, Shame About the Face. I found it on Qobuz and had to hear it.

Can - Soon Over Babaluma.

I was never cool at school - mid to late seventies - into Hawkwind and Motorhead (before Motorhead got widely known) - also electronic music like Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream… Long hair and also into punk.

For some strange reason the ‘cool’ kids at my school were the most violent bullies in the school - the rest of us lived in fear, was hospitalised once.
I remember the satisfaction just a few years later of going back to the area and not only was I now as tall as they were, they were as thick as ST while I was working in BT on 10 grand a year…

Although a big guitar fan, some guitar albums leave me a bit cold - but this one with addition of Tom Harrell on Flugelhorn is just amazing.

That’s a name I haven’t heard of in years. Always in the shadows of bigger and better players but never the less an accomplished one. Thanks for posting, Andy, and HNY!:sunglasses:

I am going to splash out on a few of his albums via Qobuz downloads.

Moods Vol 1 and September Man are top of the list.

So another year drifts by and The Fabs just seem to get fabber.
Interesting playing this after the 2023 ‘Red Album’ … the Rubber Soul tracks certainly have more sparkle on last years release.

However, I can’t find any reason to complain about that Pete…
