What are you listening to in 2024 and why might anyone be interested?

Analogue Productions 45rpm.

This is a great sounding reissue. It has more space and detail than my original. I am not a great lover of 45 rpm reissues but this works really well as it is a Doors album with a particularly long track times L.A.Woman 7:49 The Wasp 4:12 & Riders On The Storm 7:14.It is also my favorite Doors album.

So is this 45 rpm edition of ‘LA Woman’ spread over two LPs?

I used to dislike fitting the 45rpm adaptor owing to the force required to slide it over the spindle and fear of what it was doing to the motor bearings. Then someone at Radford told me of the fix, which was a revelation :flushed:. The ultimate solution came with the introduction of the Lingo PS, of course.

Yes Graham that’s one of the reasons I think it works so well on 45rpm.

The AP Doors are damned fine, agreed.
The AP Infinite boxset is a beauty.

The DCC 33rpm Doors albums are also well worth hearing - if you can find them.

Along with US first presses, especially Monarch.

Unfortunately the best sounding CD is the RCA release and that tends to be pricey!
To be fair I’ve never listened to the latest CD’s but I doubt they’d touch the RCA’s.
The Ryko (EMI inUK) with the extra tracks from 1990 sound good if you can tame the treble/highs a little. Bang for buck they’re then a good option.
Vinyl it’s an early UK press or the EMI 100 centenary pressing, both not cheap.
Good luck :+1:

Shame that the master tapes for that one are lost.

What happened to them?

No idea, just not found and believed lost - I believe that Michael Cuscuna has confirmed this. Previous CD issues have been needle drops I understand. The same thing applies to Horace Silver’s ‘The Jody Grind’, also from the Liberty era.

2nd listen of this latest release, a “grower” as they say…
