The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones - CD (1964)

The Rolling Stones first album was released in the UK 60 years ago today 16/04/64, it went to No.1 two weeks later and stayed on the chart for 40 weeks, with 11 weeks at No.1. The American edition of the LP, with a slightly different track list, came out on London Records on 30 May 1964, subtitled England’s Newest Hit Makers, which later became its official title.

This is one of the most gorgeously recorded albums ever. In fact i would put it up there with Sade and Rummer for quality of recording. Boz at his very best.

A fantastic Japanese-only album (2020) from the Estonian singer-composer, later reworked as the more widely-available The Siren (2021). We first met after I gave the latter a good review and she came up to me at an event to thank me. Which was nice. And we have been very good friends ever since. She’s not only very talented, she’s a lovely person too.

As the wind howls outside a shot of soulfunkpsych from Shugs on 1974s Inspiration Information. Aside from the horns & strings all his own work. The lad was like Martin Peters, 10 years ahead of his time. Played bass on Peaches en Regalia when only 16. MoV Epic reissue.
