From 1971 produced by Rod Stewart and Elton John.

On board are Ron Wood & Micky Waller from Jeff Beck’s band and backing vocals from Lesley Duncan, Doris Troy, Madeline Bell and Liza Strike.

The title track predates Bowie’s cover by a few months.

Sheer musical talent in every department.

As a huge fan I was disappointed at the time. It felt like the end and that Weller was moving on…as he was. Still doesn’t get played much in these parts. Strangely I quite liked The Style Council though.

It probably is, and its an absolute cracker.
Circumstances(See what I did there) meant that my eventual addiction to Beefheart started when I went in heavy from the off and aged 16 maybe 17 found myself the owner of this:-

I think the Style Council released some great singles - Introducing is a great 12” EP which picks up their best stuff I think. The Jam always seemed like a great singles band as well to me.
