I saw Pentangle at Leeds Town Hall in 69 or 70 and was blown away. They remain one of the very best I’ve ever seen. Uniti core.

Late last night (Thursday) on BBC R4 - Artworks For FUZZ Sake

The sound effect that changed popular music for ever. It started with a crack in the case of a dropped amplifier.

Dave Davies of The Kinks was interviewed as to how he got his distinctive guitar sound for You really got me

Enjoyable, and easily findable on Sounds.

Is that the track where Belew strangles his guitar? Its one heck of a sound.

John McLaughlin - Floating Point

Somehow this never found its way into my collection. I’ve been scouring the usual internet sites to try and put that right. Currently listening on Qobuz and really enjoying it.

Released in 1985, this gem of an album sounds just as glorious 40 years after it was first released . . . Arguably, it sounds even better today as producer Thomas Dolby did a fantastic job remastering it. The extra body and bass on the 2019 vinyl reissue are the sprinkles on the icing on the cake. Depending on your appetite.

Talk Talk, Spirit of Eden, reading Huey Morgan’s biog inspired me to put this on. He cites it as his musical awakening and his weekly companion for his mental health treatment through his life.
