What are you listening to in 2026 and why might anyone be interested?

Trá Pháidín -: Cloch’s Claí (2026). Blimey. Built on a solid foundation of Irish tradition (though there is little of what Mrs R disdains as “that twiddly-twiddly sh*te” here), the band erect an edifice that references cosmiche, down-tempo electronica, Indie, Zappa-ish abstraction and mariachi (!) amongst its influences. Stunning. Album of the Year? Certainly up there for me. Off to listen to it on the big system now.

Second disc from the Joy Division Eternal set, this time the familiar Bowden Vale Youth Club gig from March '79 (but it’s sounding better here than it ever has done) and the Acklam Hall in May '79 (previously unheard). Just loving this so far…

That was very cool and led me to his Save Room 1 and 2 albums, which are also very cool. 1 is kind of Out There’s vibe, 2 is more of a mutant from the family tree. Thank you!

Ace of Cups - It’s Bad For You But Do It - WAV CD rip

Band from the Haight-Ashbury scene, they didn’t record an album during the ‘60s, this was pulled together about 20 years ago from demos and live recordings. A few rough performances as you’d expect from an album of demos, but generally a funky high energy album of psychedelic rock. There is some excellent guitar work from Mary Ellen Simpson and some cool lyrics.

They were probably the first all female rock band on the scene, and reformed in the 2010s for an original album, I haven’t heard that.
