Appeared in my local Co-op. Brewed by Loch Fyne in Scotland and bottled by Robinson’s in Stockport. A delicious mild, ABV 4.2%.

It’s taken a week of waiting for the Argyll Porter to finally come on at The Havelock, Nairn. Luckily, it was well worth diverting from my dog walk for a pint; a lovely, warming ale on a chilly afternoon.

Decent selection at the Bridge, Lichfield although I thought the Old Boy was a little underpowered, a bit like me.

To my pleasant surprise this was only £3 a pint in my work local (the Navigation Inn in Nottingham) today, so 2 were only a 30p more than a pint of Guiness. Festive cheer(s) indeed.

Harvey’s Old Ale, in the newly reopened Barley Mow in Walderton, just up the road from Emsworth. It’s a free house, which is a nice surprise.

We just came back from our first visit to a Christmas market this year. It was rather uninteresting. To get a little into the Christmas mood: ‚La Mère Noël’ from Huyighe/Delirium. Christmas music from the Xmas music thread is playing in the background.

BROUWERIJ DE RANKE - WINTERBINKSKE - WINTER ALE - 8.3% - 330ML BOTTLE Belgian winter beer, easy to drink with a smooth malty bitterness. Good it comes only in small bottles.

My last visit to The Bandstand, Nairn, before heading off to family for Christmas. The Christmas Light is always a good pint, but it had to be the Broughton, Santa’s Stout, with its chocolate richness and subtle coffee on the finish.

And so, to the first beer upon my arrival in Midlothian. An absolutely delicious Porter, sold under the Sainsburys ‘Taste the Difference’ banner. It’s brewed by Badger Brewery, so that explains why it tastes so damn good!

Badger are quite big locally, here in the south. Bit surprised about the Sainsbury’s tie-up though. But why not? Good for them, good for all of us.

After a lovely walk up and down the Midlothian braes, a refreshing pint of ale was called for. The Laird and Dog, in Lasswade, had an excellent seasonal ale which went down a treat.
