How is the Mahler 5 with the Minnesota orchestra?
Haven’t heard it yet - but the 2 was great…
Now listening. It’s not the Mahler for the people who like the extremities in emotional response as you will find in other recordings. It can sound a bit clinical. But that combined with the grea5 recording, gives it a touch which will be interesting to hear again and again. Of course you need to be able to appreciate the difference…
Ps most of the reviews on the web are not that favorable given the lack of emotional extremities…
Thanks. I do like to have different versions of major works. I find that if there is a clear idea behind the interpretation, I can appreciate even big differences compared to my “favorite” of the moment.
