Well, the mains supply from the distribution board fed by the incoming electricity company cable in the majority of UK homes is anybrand twin & earth PVC insulated copper, most likely solid core if 2.5mm2 or 7-strand if 4mm2. So the same thing to the equipment would suffice - but the quality of switches, plugs and sockets may make a difference. So arguably for the best sound quality you could use the same type of cable, hardwired at the wall (where there could be multiple such outlets) - may require a fused spur connector at the wall for UK wiring regs (I havenāt checked), otherwise an unfused one, so no cable to worry about and the only plug to worry about in the line to the item would be the one connecting to equipment itself (and the only socket would be the the inbuilt equipment connector it mates with). This may be the cheapest approach. Other cables of course could be substituted for the T&E for greater flexibility and nicer appearance, or to better fit a desired end plug to the equipment, but maintaining the principle of removing a plug+socket.
A Zen Wave PL with Furutech NCF-50s. Great power cord from Dave. Also, a Black Cat Silverstar pc for my ss ampā¦great cord at a very fair price.
Supra LoRads all roundā¦ tbh I tried various, more exotic, mains leads and I couldnāt detect any change.
Just bought 2 powercords from Purecable (type 302) for my NAP 200 and power supply for NAC 272.
Sound wise a good upgrade from Chord Shawline.
Very nice and neutral (to my ears), better separation in instruments, better soundstage, good timbre and an uplift in bass section (quality and quantity)
they are not expensive
I have had a completely different experience. I like Naim power cables. I also have not had any luck with any power conditioner. Cleaner, sure but at the cost of dynamics and the prat that Naim offers. I even lost a sense of that luscious sound I that I get from my Audio Note DAC/Naim amp combo.
Do you leave your gear powered on indefinitely?
3xNaim power lines straight to the wall sockets.
No, very good price-quality level. And put well together, nice quality feel to them.
Van den Hul mainsstream hybrid.
I had this chunky 2m number somewhere in the system for over 10 years.
No nonsense connectors and at the Ā£300 price range.
Made a great supply to the power hungry plasma screen I had.
Now sitting in the cupboard as my Sony smart screen unfortunately has a feeble captive cable.
Pretty certain that if the Sony had this stuck up it I would see some gains.
khan84: Gear is on continuously. For now Iām settled on stock Naim power cords with the power conditioner staying, no loss of prat and dynamics with what Iām using.
The other power cords I tried changed things, but I wasnāt convinced it was for the better. May try again in the future. Many on this forum are having good success with power conditioners, see current thread on Audioquest units.
Thatās good to hear that you leave your gear on. I have found a few users who believe leaving gear on doesnāt effect sound quality. I can understand a little if itās an integrated amplifier that one listens to passively in relatively high noise floor environment. (I would Even say night listening is far better). But for separates especially the difference is so obvious I fail to understand how somebody cannot notice it.
Also with regards to power conditioners, it wasnāt a casual experiment that I had tried. I have repeatedly tried to invest in this category but I would never enjoy the sound more than Gear plugged into just a very high quality socket (Russ Andrews or Furutech) and MusicWorks reflex lite power block. (I want the big brother of the reflex but Iām not willing to spend that much on a power block.
For power cables, Iāve got Naim lites and music works. I want Naim PowerLines but again i believe Iāve used my budget wisely thus far so I cannot afford more in the accessories category.
Btw I always change the fuse in my plugs with AMR fuses. Warning please do NOT change fuses in equipment as per Naim recommendation against safety of the components.
I use home brew Tornado cables with Furutechs at each end and Faraday collar, out performs cables costing 1,000 times more.
2 x Naim Powerlines straight into wall sockets. Sounds pretty good.
Would anyone care to explain the fashion for using extension leads instead of plugging into wall sockets? My mains supply is first class, what could I possibly gain by spending between Ā£1500 and Ā£5000 on a powerblock when I have enough sockets?
AV Options Tibia Plus
Another Ansuz user, nice to see another forum member that has made the discovery, and took the plunge with great resuults. I love my D2 Mainz. Maybe more folks on the forum here will catch on and test drive a unit. Itās a worth while investment with equal returns.

It`s too expensive for me to try
Iām considering replacing my Powerline Lites with 50 or 75cm lengths of Mark Grant black power cables. My reason is for better cable management as I have approximately 1.5 metres of unused powerline lite coiled on the floor which surely canāt be a good thing. I would have thought that shorter lengths of power cables are prone to picking up less interference (but I am no expert in this area) as well as being cheaper
I did think about putting 0.75m leads onto my powerline lite plugs.
Surely it would be better than a birds nest of magnetic fieldsā¦
Could always put the original leads back in afterwards, they look like standard leads up to the plug.
