What’s coming at Munich?

Of course forumites should express their frustration over delivery delays on here. I was referring specifically to criticism of the lack of a new product launch.

I was amused imagining this thread when I saw the announcement on twitter. Will say a special edition colour for a uniti product makes more sense to me. Its not like its been that long since the last great products when you factor in the pandemic. It must also be a pain to not only be trying to fill new orders but have enough parts for any repairs that come in. At least they aren’t going for lower quality parts just to get something new out the door.

I agree about the marketing hype, if this is the new outsourced marketing arrangement it’s very poor.
I completely disagree with your view that now is not the time to launch new products, unless you mean Naim only. Off the top of my head I recall the likes of DCS, Chord Electronics, Fyne Audio, Innuos, and I’m sure many more, are indeed launching new products at Munich. Why are these manufacturers not experiencing the same critical component shortages ?

Umm…It is the dealers (and distributors) who are responsible for updating customers (end users) regarding delivery delays. Now if they (dealers/distributors) are genuinely not getting updates from Naim, then that is not good.

I agree that poor response to support questions is of concern, but you tend to hear a mixed bag here. Also those who don’t get what they want when they want it tend to shout loudest.

They are

Everybody is in the same boat, but it’s much easier for companies selling fewer units or with many fewer dealers to fulfil.

Well how come they are launching/producing new products ?

Fair point

Marketing hype is super tricky, yes it could have been worded better but after all I’ve seen in the video game space this doesn’t seem too egregious, just the fact they used the words “audio solutions” was weird to me and kept my hype low

Because they are, whereas beforehand they weren’t, when Naim were. They’re not all on the same cycle. Moreover some of the new products mentioned won’t actually be available until the late Autumn/Winter.

As long as we are not going to be left in a lurch w.r.t. servicing existing kit (which I do not expect to be the case, although one never knows what the future holds). Maybe these aspects will be totally outsourced in the future. Currently services in Europe(Germany) are handled by the distributor with the exception of some things like CD players that have to be sent back to Naim. In the UK there are a few service partners that take care of this. That said and not taking advantage/the mickey with silly prices to change a few condensers etc… to annoy customers that have already spent alot on Naim equipment.

The last thing I want is that I have bought into something that is simply throw away. If that is the case I could have bought plenty of other brands

My goodness Richard, that line has been used to death for 4 years now. I am with @Pete_the_painter .

Yes, I understood the intent - I should have added an Emoji.

And I should have added perhaps “nicht böse gemeint” so as to ensure and maintain the sensitivity and respectfulness on the forum

Funky. Yellow was the death knell for Acorn.

And in those 4 years you had some very exciting products launched; the new Mu-So2s, the Atom HE and of course, the Solstice. You waited, and you saw, and those products have been very successful, even with all the challenges of the past 2 and a half years.

Yes, fair point I’ll accept that. And I will also apologise for a negative post. It is just so frustrating for all of us users who love and care for the brand to see it continue to ignore the gap in the market that could be filled by a 272 replacement. Reading that list of products from the last 4 years maybe Naim is not a high end audio company any more and the problem is with us.

…Also not helped by marketing hyping something that does not deserve the hype.

I don’t think that have anything new to add … fair comments above, but I’ve expected more from Munich …

no naim is being very quiet!

It would take a LOT of Beer for that picture to be appealing

Edit where did the pic go???
