My new Dual turntable
Edit-I’ve since returned the TT and bought a Audiolab CDT6000.
Hello Pete
Got to ask, why are you hesitant over this with your Atom?
best wishes
I’m not sure if it’s true but I think the Atom will turn everything to 24/48 before converting it back to analog, normally that wouldn’t bother me but I’m trying to do some comparisons between the vinyl and digital files.
Had the same concern with my Nova .
If I hadn’t of known and just depended on what I was hearing , I wouldn’t have worried about it .

I’m pretty sure you’re right. Generally things like this don’t worry me
I’m not sure about the bit and sampling ratio, but, yes all the Unitis convert the vinyl analogue signal to digital (to enable multi-room) and then from digital back to analogue for the sound input.
Oddly, with my Nova, vinyl sounds fine, but if I then multi-room to the NDX2, it doesn’t sound as good.
Obviously, if you connect the phono stage direct to your 252, that would give the best comparison against your NDX2 anyway. I do this with my old Rega Planar 3 and it sounds remarkably good.
Hence my earlier post about firing up the main system, think for my comparison I’d rather keep it analog. Should have it reinstated by Friday next week (hopefully), and will report back.
What is wrong with 52/135 ? I assume the update was very noticeable. What speakers do you have? Love my 52/135… (hopefully back soon from service, the 52)
Am I correct in understanding you have paid for an ndx2 over an nd5xs2 for a remote control and just in case u get a 300 to keep box count below six?
Remote control AND screen
Lol! Now u have a 252 coming u need an nds or nd500
We’ve been “living with” a “lowly” 272 for 18 months so I suspect the NDX2/nDAC/XSPDR into 252/SCDR is going to keep us happy on the source side for some time to come once we get a SL DIN-DIN. Dealer tells us that independently both source and pre-amp are large jumps in SQ compared to a 272 so doing both together should be a bingo moment.
But never say never.
Nowt wrong with a 272, naim don’t make duff amps… I just bought 252/300, new (couple weeks) and just starting to come on song in a big way!! Love them
Mr Redundant Formats has been at it again:-
I’d been after the top of the range JA555ES, but they go for a lot of money. The 333 can too, although not as much, and I got this one for a decent price.
I really need to get an additional rack!
Love it. Had a CD player end of 80s - must be 555 something I remember. Sold it for a good price some years ago.
These high end Sony minidisc recorders are excellent! Very good for archiving cassettes (using a Dragon as the source to get the best out of the cassette).
I have Kudos Titan T88s- the previous top of line Titan prior to the 808s
Nothing was wrong with the 135s/52. Great sound using the NDX2/555DRPS
However opportunity to upgrade with dealer demo 552dr and recently DR’d 500 (preloved) became available and I figured this was the time to take the big step
Does is now sound better, more musical, more organic? yes!
Is it more enjoyable? Yes!
No regrets. That said with price of new 552/500 I could not make the move now.

Where’s the 272 2nd gen? 2030?
Adds more of everything having dual 555DRs on the NDS. Took a bit of time (couple of days) for the change to become really apparent but the music flow is just more natural and slightly better balanced when streaming from Tidal/Spotify/etc. When playing the analog version of the same recording on the Solstice and on then on the NDS the overall sound is still tilted to vinyl, but the difference is not as great as it was with one 555PS on the NDS. If you can find a 555PS DR at a reasonable price, highly recommend purchasing the unit. Lucked out and mine is a fairly new build with 2 years of warranty still to go.
One, two or three 52’s Drago?
