What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2022?

Dedicated mains is something I plan when we further extend the house.

A Pair of P9s to replace my P7s. Luckily, although slightly larger than the P7s, they can still just about squeeze into the August hard carry case that makes these excellent portable companions where you have more space than just a coat pocket in which to carry them. I’m breaking them in in my MacBook as I type…

Try to feed the extension with a dedicated consumer unit. Then a dedicated circuit for the naims powered from a decent mains block. That’s what i have with a klangmodul. I have that in both systems and works quite well

John,

Did you get your S-280 yet? How’s the D-280 working out?

Just in. Nordost QK1.

Nope … not yet, must still be on the boat …

The D280 is proving to be quite a remarkable piece of kit … a different voicing than the Terminator, but all round thoroughly enjoyable. The DAC has 4 separate filter settings:

Upsampled OFF Fast roll off
Upsampled OFF Slow roll off
Upsampled ON Fast roll off
Upsampled ON Slow roll off

Initially I found myself very distracted rolling through them as I was listening to music in an attempt to find the right one for the music I happened to be listening to … in the end I gave up and just settled on one. When I get a little better acquainted with the system I’ll probably revisit these options … but until then I’m just listening.

What is it?

Thanks for the update John.

Blimey, sounds fancy.

I wonder if it works.

It clearly does. It says it provides a vital solution. Vital, no less. And, if that’s not enough, prevents time delay and distortion.

It also improves the “visual qualities” of sound which sounds interesting

But where do you stick it?

No rude replies please !

How do you cook it?

Sounds identical to Furutech NCF plug in coils.

I heard covid vaccine seems to work to so maybe you should give it a go.

These arrived today - a chrome bumper 42 and 160.

Nice condition and appear to be untouched inside so a service will be on the cards. Letting them settle before having a listen!

I just collected the new 200DR and returned the old 200, i also rebuilt Fraims with black coated legs. Unfortunately one is still missing the base since i’m waiting parts to complete it.
I also have a new glass side table with Artemide table lamp for a bit touch of “Space Age” touch to the room.
Like direct comparison , i seemed to prefer the old 200, apparently more organic and fluent.
The 200 DR out of the box, seemed more “Rigid” and assertive, a little harder on voices ,with more closed-in presentation. Now three days on it seems to loosen up nicely

Just placed an order for 4 GigaWatt circuit breakers
and ~60 meters of the Gigawatt in-wall power cable.

Another step in the listening room construction.

Both are VERY good!
I think you’ll be hard pressed you get more bang for the buck anywhere else in your system. :ok_hand:t2:

The cable does take about a decade to break-in though. But it’s worth the time.

You might (should) have a look at a Doepke audio grade differential switch too, if required in your country. For SQ, only no switch is better.
