What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2023?

I bought and paid for new speakers end of January! They have arrived in the USA and will be shipping to me early next week.
ProAc D48R in RoseWood. Coming FedEx Frieght. On a pallet! 250lbs for the pair. My back is already sore :joy: These will most likely be my endgame speakers, unless I win the lottery LoL !

Hey DG, I’d love to know your thoughts on this cable.

I’m considering the same signature reference in a 2 RCA-Din configuration to connect my SACD player to the Nova.

@JCW84

I’ve just completely moved and re-arranged my system.

Gone for a double stack instead of a single stack. Look up the ā€œUpgraditis Alertā€ thread for full details.

As well as the above, I also put this cable between the HiCap and the 282 and, demoed the Kudos KS-1 speaker cable.

There is definitely a difference from the previous set up; the most significant being that it is a lot brighter, for example. The bass is not as noticeable, it is there in abundance, but perhaps more controlled.

I like the new sound, far more detailed and with more clarity. Controlled bass. Percussion is now far more detailed, with adds to the enjoyment of the music. I must admit that I didn’t expect that amount of improvement in the percussion area.

It just seems more relaxed and more enjoyable and, I’m sure that the new Chord cable played a part in this.

Thanks, DG - appreciate your detailed reply and the additional context.

Happy listening!

Having tried IsoAcoustics Oreas underneath my Nova, and been distinctly unimpressed, I’ve now received a custom sized 10mm toughened glass shelf from Solid Sounds. It’s made a really nice improvement, with greater control and clarity, and a more open sound. The extent of the improvement really surprised me. It was a good bit cheaper than the Oreas, and looks much more discreet to me, so it’s a win-win. A full sized Fraim shelf would be too big for my table, and because the Nova is quite a bit less deep than a standard Naim box, it looks much more in proportion. Happy days.

Discreet and looks good. :slight_smile:

Are you not tempted to file down the table legs into pointy spikes? :grinning:

:rofl: :rofl:

They are pretty thin already!

I’d put money on a NC250 joining the party soon.

Or replace them with some extruded, anodised aluminium legs.

I’ve heard that can work well with Naim gear.

It looks a little ā€œemptyā€ with nothing on the top shelf.
Have you thought of ditching the Nova and replacing with a Supernait3 and NDX2 :grin:

(Only joking, HH. Looks very nice and discreet - enjoy)

A nice rack rather than a coffee table would be nice :wink:

It makes sense when you see the whole caboodle.

Now there’s an idea! Finding a little table with two levels in the right size and with the right look was harder than you may imagine. It’s a factory prototype, so one of a kind.

Rabbit hole. Gone. Down.

Got for a relative song on the bay, so why not.

25/05 - Rabbit hole come back up. After a trial period I went back to a C-Stream ā€˜full loom’. I think there’s maybe something about not mixing cables in the digital signal path. Who knows but it sounds better.

I’d be very interested in how you get on with this cable - i’ve had a 3 year crush on it. :sweat_smile:

I was so impressed by the Sarum Super Aray in place of the HiLine and I like the idea of a ā€˜family’.

Beautiful :notes::100:

A brand new NPX to my NDX 2 arrived today. Hope to get the Burndy cable within a couple of weeks. It replaces a XPS DR.
