Just picked up a lovely mint-condition NAC 102 for £375, original box, Narcom, all leads, blanking plugs and manuals… I have some Chrome-bumper coloured plans for it. And more than that I cannot say…
Hi HH
…
He has mentioned the same question about products I put in.
Nothing to worry about
.
I have been made an offer that was too good to refuse.
So I have replaced 272/555DR/250DR with 333/332/NC250.
My initial plan was just to replace 272/555 with 222/NPX300, but I made the mistake of listening to 333/332/250DR, then 333/332/NC250.
In those cases the products are illegal to sell in EU though and those resellers are breaking EU regulation and could get sales ban.
The worry is getting products made for the wrong market and your house getting burned down or you getting electrified. But that might not be a problem for you. It is for me.
A great combination.
I strongly advise you not to listen to a 333/332 and both are powered by an NPX300, as I did.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve only got room for one NPX……or a pair of 350s???
They use the wrong CE logo. Looks more like China Export logo
They also lack the contact adress which is a requirement. Naim check all boxes though
Not doing these basic things right is often a sign on that the company don’t know the basics in how to fulfil EU and technical standard requirements.
If you can only fit in one 300 I suggest putting it on the 333, when I tried just one it sounded best this way.
I am happy with my 250 and when I heard the 350s against the 250 I wasn’t convinced the upgrade was worthwhile. I think the NPX300 make a bigger difference but others upgrading to 350s gives better results.
After all to many years as a Naim supporter ….. It’s all gone.
I was unhappy when mid range cd player production stopped.
I have Qobuzed with the NDX and PS for a two or three years but was never truly content. The 700 odd cds were never played, I enjoy purchasing more and personal horizons become hazy. ( I am very old) I just wanted to listen to them again. One a day would be a bonus.
Various combinations were tried but nothing clicked until
Accuphase and look I’ve still got Naim Fraim lite.
New cd player and a last model demonstration integrated amplifier.
The little Falcons like the heft.
The daughter was happy as ‘ it was a few less bits to pack up and cart back after you’ve gone. ‘My treasure.
Good to see a fellow Kudos 505 user on the forum. Mine are also in the oak finish.
I started with 333/332/350/350 and then added two 300s. The dealer demo I originally had was on the full six-box system and that was always my ‘end game’ system.
You have to give him credit though, he was given a new Nova because of a minor droop and then offered yet another one. In the US and down under you can’t even get a product serviced or repaired by Naim.
Ditto, congrats on an amazing set up.
I had Super 10a until a couple of years back. The Kudos speakers I have heard have all sounded superbly musical with a particularly sweet midrange.
I heard the full fat 300 system with various speakers at the Acoustica show last year. It sounded best, to my ears at least, with 808s.
That’s a great setup. The Accuphase kit is very nice.
Ouch
Nice to see I am not the only person who clicked with Accuphase.
Like you I tried a wide range of alternatives (including Naim) when I upgraded 6 moths ago and came down on these beasts…
Love the meters and incidentally the headphone output is great with Mezes…
Enjoy
Agreed. This is a HIGHLY detailed replica if that is the case. Looks legit to me and the main thing is how does it sound? If good, I think this is nothing to worry about personally ![]()
Very neat solution and looks great on that table ![]()
Just a thought about powering the now active speakers: Because they appear to use class D switching amps (2 channel amp module per speaker) you might get best possible results from the Atom by plugging the speakers into a separate power outlet. Good listening!
New seating for the living room. Mrs. FZ vetoed everything and replaced the sofa with an expensive dining banquette (despite being no eating in the living room). The seat is twice as high as the sofa was, it’s hard as a rock (perfectly level solid walnut slab with a thin cushion on top). Hurts like hell after twenty minutes. I may never use the hifi or home cinema again.
Apparently, “A sofa should not be too comfortable. It should keep one alert and discourage nodding off”
A sofa (well, it’s not a sofa and that’s the problem) has triggered an existential crisis. ![]()
I went from tweeters at ear height to being 20cm higher than them.
You need to change something ( or some one) ![]()
