I had a NDX2 for a while before I added a XPSDR. It’s a substantial improvement. So much so that when my wife heard the difference, she kicked in some of her own funds to help buy it. True story! Now she wants to go halfsies with me on a second HRS EXR rack to replace our remaining Fraim rack.
Mrs Q has always excelled at finding upgrades. It was her idea to buy our Fraim, but she didn’t volunteer a penny towards it…![]()
Soon it will be leaving the building with a 35% return on my original investment ![]()
Cheers. Increasing dynamics and PRaT is exactly what I want from the switch, as well as a lower noise floor.
Send your Naim Fraim to me. Even willing to get it by car ![]()
I plan to list it all sooner or later. Two Fraim bases, 6 Fraim levels, 2 Fraimlite levels, and two spare sets of medium level stanchions (actually std, the mediums belong with the original levels).
It’s a no brainer to just buy one and demo it for up to the 60 day return window.
If it isn’t for you or you don’t hear enough of an upgrade for the money paid, return it for a full refund.
That’s what I’m doing, it’s got to seriously take a dramatic turn for the worse after burn in for me to return it.
Hi all.. back to the arrow thingy .. I tried both ..
pointing toward source/ switch/ee1 . The sound is more dynamic , more airy , open, more low .
Pointing away . Less of the above . And it’s like having a veil and the sound it’s like compressed and “stucked”
so after a few tries , be it pointing towards or away, been the right way or not, I have it pointed towards, I get more by doing so .
very weird for the chord cables or any makes that ethernet should point away .
So I eventually go for what I heard is best for my room and system sounding .
Is that a pair of YG? Nice
35% profit ? , I don’t think that is what you mean QS ?? ![]()
Yeah, I meant 35% of original cost🙄
The system is all packed away whilst the room is transformed from a building site back into a living space once more. Missing it, obviously, but quite taken with the sound from this Makita site speaker. Tidal streamed from an iPhone isn’t bad at all. Back to mono, as Phil Spector might have said.
New kit? I’ve just placed an order with Cymbiosis for two Simraks in oak to fit in the alcove once it’s all completed. Meantime, back to the re-wiring, plastering, painting, and floor laying ..
I nearly broke the bank on this one!
Best £11.59 I’ve ever spent. It’s a rubbery gel roller for getting dust off vinyl. Same kind of stuff as you use to clean your stylus I think. Works an absolute treat, safe to use and way better than the carbon brush I was previously using which has an extremely sharp corner which I accidentally introduced to one of my LP’s ![]()
Actually more interesting than I thought as I didn’t realise it’s actually an all-in-one system.
I mean it costs the same as my house and ironically I couldn’t fit them in my house but would still be interesting to hear.
Plugging a turntable in might be a challenge as you’d presumably need very long phono leads!
Crikey! Somehow I knew you wouldn’t make it through a whole year😆
These are 2 upgrades I’ve been thinking about too so look forward to hearing how you get on. Congratulations on the new kit.
Supercap DR and 555PSDR?
