What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2025?

You were perfectly clear, and nothing was taken out of context. You said “When a Naim box is on the Fraim, if you clap it rings.” That’s not a compelling argument for using Fraim. When I play music I don’t want my Naim components ringing. If they react like that to clapping, they’ll be reactive to music too.

My point stands that I wouldn’t be surprised if a HRS rack improved Naim component isolation even further. At least one of my dealer’s customers found that to be true. I’d bet if Naim decided to sell Fraim at the same price point of HRS they would have made Fraim even better.

I understand what you are saying but in practice it isn’t necessarily the case. Yes, I agree Naim does all sorts of things to prevent vibrations. But the simple clap test shows that when a Naim box is sitting on a full fat fraim level it isn’t completely isolated, no matter what marketing says (I didn’t notice this when not on Fraim).

As far as I’m aware (someone can correct me if I’m wrong), on a fraim, yes the ball/cup is an isolation device but a spike is a coupling device, not an isolating device like many think. So the levels are coupled, the glass is decoupled from the levels & as far as the Naim boxes are concerned, the classic series has a combo of materials for the footers, so not sure exactly what they are doing, probably semi isolating? For the 500 series, I believe they all have rigid footers, so that would again be coupling. So I would say its a bit more complicated & doesn’t just “defies logic”.

Some speakers are designed as rigid as possible, some are designed for the walls to resonate, there is often not one right choice.

Though, I never claimed this was a good thing, only that it happens. I was only made aware this happens as another member had posted it years back & after reading I thought to my self, that can’t be/that can’t be good for sound? Sure enough, it does in fact happen. I would agree that logically that seems like a bad idea but some designs are specifically done this way & different types of components react in different ways.

My guess without ever doing so would be, the HRS rack with better isolation might improve hifi aspects of the sound but may loose some of that Naim PRT. Again, what you prefer is up to you. As said above if I was using non Naim components, Fraim would likely not be my first choice, as I would expect other solutions to work better.

OK, you weren’t clear before that you meant the ringing to be a bad thing. You didn’t say that originally. You implied Naim did that on purpose.

I see no downside to providing better isolation.

Naim components will not ring when you play albums. It would be ridiculous to invest 4k into a rack to have additional noises issues.
It’s only when you tap with your hand.
The goal is to dissipate the energy, not to deaden it. They found it sounds better like that with Naim components.
Some reported some years ago to have tried the top Finite Elemente rack, which is the high standard in audio rack. Around 10k today.
They found the sound lacking involvement.

How is it? I am thinking to try their Air cable.

Eversolo A6 ME to pair with my 272 and 200DR. This has been one of my best purchases in a long time.

I picked up this 500DR at a price I couldn’t refuse, lol I’ve told the wife this will be my last purchase this year!
Well, if I did buy something else that would be my last purchase :skull:

Although, over the years I’ve been able to listen to the 500DR within many dealer setups this is a first in my home. I am completely gobsmacked how far ahead this amp is over any of the other Naim amps including the none DR 500, trying to pull away from listening is becoming difficult :slightly_smiling_face:

Fosi Audio V3 mono amplifiers. This is for my ‘Holiday’ system in Spain I’ll be using the Wiim Ultra as a Pre/Streamer the V3’s will be powering my Dynaudio Audience 52’s, I also have a slightly modded Rega P1/AT95ML into Graham Slee Gold V1 .

I won’t be there until the first week in March but will test the V3’s in my main system using the sub out on my SN2 to see how they get on powering my Dynaudio 3.4’s. I wanted to build a ‘budget’ system using a decent set of speakers firstly because I don’t want to spend too much on a system that gets used maybe 2-300 hours a year and secondly because I’m curious to hear how it will sound.

And how is it shaping up?

Am torn between splashing on a Degritter or this.

Some folks say the Humminguru is not so well put together as would be ideal?

I’ve owned a Humminguru for 3 years now, used at least monthly, cleaned hundreds of records. No issues with build quality for me. It does make a horrendous noise though X)

Really? I thought these were supposed to be pretty quiet?

Perhaps that’s just in relation to the more typical vacuum boxes…

I’ve never heard a vacuum operated RCM. I shut the door on my HG when it’s in operation

The YT videos I’ve just checked of its operation seem to capture the noise it makes pretty well though.

Hi Jamie
I have one and it works well. I still have a Okki Nikki vacuum cleaner also and the Guru is much much quieter, however it is not silent and it does have a blow dry function (as opposed to suction) which is again far from silent.

Is one better than the other? I can’t say I can tell much if any different. The Guru is much easier to store, get out and use.

I’ve owned their standard version for several years now, have cleaned 200+ albums & no complaints. No complaints on build quality either, is it Degritter quality?, no but it’s also a fraction of the price. It does a great job & is convenient, was actually thinking about upgrading to the Nova (wasn’t available when I bought mine). Sound wise, vacuum level isn’t too bad but the ultrasonic noise isn’t that enjoyable but can’t say I’ve heard an ultrasonic cleaner that is. My opinion is if you have a smaller collection or are on a budget, one of their offerings is probably a great option. If you have a large collection & budget isn’t a concern, sure go for something like a Degritter.
