Just bought an iFi XPower PS for my Primare - not sure how much difference it makes but worth a try for Ā£100 or so.
I have to say Iām really enjoying the NP5 - a definite step up from 272 on its own.

Not new of course, nor even new to me, but yesterday I collected my Pioneer CT-S830S cassette deck after it had been properly repaired and serviced by Pete Dolman of Dolman Audio Visual. It cost me more in cash terms than when I bought it new, but it is SO worth it. I thought I had bought it in 1995, but thereās a date stamp on the mechanism of 1998, so it must have been later. Anyway, I am so pleased to have it back.
My sister-in-law was questioning why Iād bothered to have it repaired. Clearly she doesnāt understand these things!!

I tried them in the same room just 6 weeks ago - staggeringly well made and beautiful speakers, if extremely heavy.. The sound exceeds the Peaks as youād expect in terms of precision and staging, but the low end was too much for this room and the Cairns are frankly more than enough - no one would listen to them and say āyou need a subwoofer in there..ā. The Carmel bass was better suited to a full-size listening room and how they manage to deliver the low end they do whilst the same driver delivering all the mid range clarity anyone could ever need is a true engineering marvel. I had to let them go back though, and I know the system I now have is balanced and exceptional in its own way..

A Panasonic DP-UB9000 4K Bluray player. This was planned to replace the recently bought Panasonic DP-UB820 that is now needed in the lounge to replace an older player that struggled with the triple layer UHD movie discs. But it turns out that it is so good that it has trumped my trusty Cambridge Audio CX UHD as a digital transport for Bluray audio and CDs. Itās an excellent player and the analogue stage is no slouch either, though not at the transport to ND555 level, which is quite outstanding really - very pleased. The CX UHD will stay as a transport for my SACD and DVD-A discs that the Panasonic doesnāt play.

So itās a mixture of Shunyata vs Cardas. For interconnects and speaker cables the Cardas is superior?
For non-Naim components, I suspect American cables are some of the best but costly. Shunyata, Cardas, Nordost.
Looks great the Cairn. I actually prefer the looks of the Peaks to the higher range Reference series (Carmel3).

I like it cos itās small in size and portless , just like magico . I heard it once in a show but the room sucks, did the speaker a great disservice. Thanks for the post , at least i have a clearer understanding having them in a real listening room/house.

For my system and room, yes.
The Shunyata loom is just ātoo muchā and fatigue starts to set in within 30 minutes.
I actually experienced this too with Siltech. Once again, too much for my system and room.
During the final days with the demo Cardas loom, the sound was phenomenal !
I had two full days of blasting out music of quite a few genres. It was outstanding. Music I know very well.
- Thatās the best sound Iāve ever had in my living room.
- I couldnāt believe how low (bass) the YG Talus could go without any bass boom/bloat whatsoever.
All the things we audiofiles typically describe what we want from our system was there, in spades.
So Iāve pulled the trigger on Cardas as described above and now itās just listening and discovering new music. Done! 
Oh, for anyone interested, YG Acoustics actually use Cardas Audio grade 1 copper for all their internal speaker wiring. So the synergy is already there.

Just bought a pair of Linn Silver XLRs for nearly half the new cost. These will go between my ATC20a speakers and Linn ADSM3. Now Iām not a cable guy but I just thought that for what I paid for the speakers alone, they deserved something more than the Ā£60 mogami XLRs I have now. The new price for 6m of the Linn is about Ā£600 so I should hear a difference. The plan is to put them in next week and as long as I donāt feel SQ has been compromised they will stay.
Many like the Mogami cables better than much more expensive options but Iām not going to A/B compare. Just swap them out and hopefully report back a big positive. If not then I can sell on.
