Rest of system is 252, SC, 300, NDX2 and XPS all driving Focal Sopra No.3’s. Earphones are Focal Utopia’s. Re cables connecting M Scaler to TT2 then I made a couple of short BNC to BNC cables using Mogami Subminiature Coaxial Video/Audio Cable, 75 ohms, Thin Black Cable, 2964, and standard BNC connectors, nothing special really. I was contemplating building some new cables using Oyaide Pure Silver 75 Ohm Cable, priced per metre and their BNC cables, the only issue being the bend radius as I don’t want long cables connecting the TT2 to the M-Scaler as they sit on top of each other.

But how does it sound? And how does it compare to Naim? 
I’ve not had a proper listen yet it’s just warming up overnight then tomorrow I will play a few LP’s and let you know.

Think you will need wider slots on your toaster hh unless you stick to 7”s.
Absolutely great dac, leave that r2r on forever and it will do you wonders. Also did you let it go NOS (Non-oversampling mode)?
Is it possible to get a Hegel stereo amp without the inbuilt DAC? Also very interested in how you find the 190
They used to do the H200 that didn’t but If your not using the DAC as I’m not I can’t see why it would be an issue.
Having said that the DAC inside the H190 is Hegel’s own design and is very well reviewed and out of interest I may try it in the coming weeks as well as the streamer.

In the next week I will connect my Auralic Aries Mini to the Hegel via digital out and I believe the Hegel also has Airplay and upnp streaming so I’ll also try those.
true - this dac is beautyful. To me it`s a electronic pcs of Art.
NOS I haven`t tried yet
I go step by step and enjoy every minute listening to the music.
I decided to listen at least two weeks in standard settings.
later I will try the NOS mode - today I can`t imagine this gives another boost because the dac sounds already so sweet.

Most of my friends loved it, after going into NOS. He loved it more.
But anyways, enjoy.
I had a Auralic Aries Mini for a while, still the best value for money streamer + DAC that I have ever used. Pity Auralic stopped producing it.

Bought this SMSL Su9 DAC for the office system. According to ASR this is one of the best measured DACs they have ever tested, and I bought it pretty much based on that review.
Costing just a bit over US$400, I am pleasantly surprised by the sound quality, although i’d have preferred a slightly warmer presentation. But overall quite happy with the purchase.

I think they stopped manufacturing it as it was eating into their more expensive streamer/DAC sales. It really is rather good. Not parting with mine.

from time to time I use a SN3
On a whim (lockdown inspired no doubt) I ordered and received QED XT40i cables. I’d originally been using 16 gauge premium cable and the QED are 12 gauge… what an upgrade in SQ, especially in the lower registers. So much so that I’ve switched off the subwoofer.
An awesome upgrade for very little outlay.
