Goodto find someone else who feels as I do about HMV. About the very last store on the high street where you can browse a wide selection of music and films - if they are gone that experience is gone forever and I don’t want that…
As a result like you I always buy there rather than Amazon if at all possible. If they offered next day delivery as Amazon do then frankly I wouldn’t ever buy from the River again!!

This is Nostromo by Sleep Research Facility, an excellent dark ambient album based around the concept of a huge, silent spaceship journeying across the cosmos but with internal machinary humming & droning away. Really atmospheric if snyone fancies something a bit different.

Yes, I agree about HMV, if it goes that will be it in many towns. It’s a shadow of it’s former self and a shame they dropped the improved loyalty scheme but they are at least still there. Classical music is very thin but I do try to support it where I can. I am streaming a bit now but I did buy some CDs of Gary Numan, Porcupine Tree and Pineapple Thief at the Taunton store and a couple of DG classical CDs in the Exeter store over the last few months. It is still an enjoyable experience to walk out with one’s purchases and have them to enjoy whenever ‘for ever’.

Yes, that’s my view. The L&D version of ‘Still In Love With You’ is classic for me. I’m looking forward to hearing this new box. Alternative versions of the original L&D tracks and of course tracks from the era which didn’t make the original like ‘Johnny’, ‘Soldier of Fortune’ and ‘Opium Trail’. These extended boxes are an interesting trend, giving complete concerts from the whole tour, as started I think by Yes with ‘Progeny’, and Be Bop Deluxe with ‘Live In The Airage’. I wonder if any more of those 1970/80s live doubles will have a similar treatment?

Can’t help but feel that if someone re-opened a decent megastore of the Tower Records type in the middle of London, Manchester and Glasgow, they’d have a decent biz, if they did it right.
Stacks of stock, enthusiastic employees, add a few band nights, movie nights, celeb signings etc. Proper old world physical connections, with the option to buy physical media. They could also have download stations, party booths, party nights, midweek festivals even!

Ditto, Tower Records in Piccadilly after BBC Proms concerts. Opened ‘till midnight. No 9 bus from Royal Albert Hall straight there! Those were the days……
