What was the last CD you bought

I have their debut - A Sonic Holiday.

Not cheap to buy, now. I bought Infamy on 12" (30years ago :flushed:), but that was my lot as far as Engine Alley was concerned.

I love the end of the first movement of the Walton! Previn’s original recording with the LSO is right up there. I will investigate the Rattle one, thanks.

Nightwish and Into the Electric Castle, usually buy vinyl but I thought what the heck, just this once!

Caravan - Who Do You Think We Are?
35 x CDs, 1 x DVD, 1 x BluRay

I am weak willed :worried:. I couldn’t resist, despite having more than half the titles in this set.

But I am a true Caravan fan!

World Machine by Level 42, I grew up in the eighties and I have always so always on the look out for original releases. This was used 1985 Polydor release, the dynamic range is great and I was quite shocked how well this recording has held up. I saw the band live well beyond their prime, some really great tunes on here.

Eight-CD box set version of one of THE great live albums…

There are questions about how ‘live’ this album actually is. Significant re-recording and over dubbing has been reported.

It is very good, I recall - but is it ‘live’…?

@IanRobertM - Accounts between producer Tony Visconti (25% live) and the band and their manager (75% live) vary hugely.

I don’t suppose we’ll ever know how much is “live” but really, who cares? In every case, the songs on L&D are superior to the “studio” versions. It’s one of the greatest rock albums ever.

I was at one of the recorded Hammersmith gigs on i think the Johnny the Fox tour…….seems a faithful reproduction of a bloody amazing gig?

Just arrived from Amazon. As usual with Steely Dan, very high quality performance and recording.

Just dropped on the mat. Norah Jones - Come Away With Me - Super Deluxe Edition. I’ve heard a few masterings of this album and this is my favourite. The instruments, in particular the Upright Bass, appear better defined. I felt more drawn in than ever and played it back to back a couple of times on its first outing.

The SDL version has 2 more CDs of alternate and unreleased versions I’m looking forward to and is really nicely packaged with integral booklet and some great photos. Well worth the £23 or so.

I also felt a little obligated to buy something of hers after all the pleasure watching the sessions she put on YT every Thursday during lockdown.

Clube da Esquina is a true gem and if you enjoyed it, have a listen to 75’ Minas and 78’ Travessia, both excellent albums.

Lovely system you’ve got there @DeeKay. Often wonder about changing over to that exact one :+1:

Thanks @Blackstar. It’s addictively rewarding. I count myself very lucky, my local AN dealer has supplied, installed & optimised it superbly and it’s changed the way I appreciate music. I now listen to at least ten times more music from wider range of genres than with my previous system.
