It’s a sickness I tell you, and the only cure is to buy more :smiling_imp:

it’s not b/c the more I buy, the more I keep buying!

I was trying to set limits, like saying that collections I have on vinyl don’t need CDs…but I own all the Springsteen and Tom Waits albums and now have the silver discs.

oh well…

London Brew

Various young(ish) jazz players on the scene, inspired by Miles and Bitches Brew.

An homage? Don’t know yet, only just unwrapped it.

Looks good, let’s see if it lives up to its looks.

Really? That’s so cheap! No wonder why you keep buying so many CDs, well done!
I’ve never seen those prices online to be honest.
By the way I keep buying CDs as well, just not at your rate.

eBay, Amazon and Discogs prices are often £3 to £4 but obviously more if a rare cd. I buy many cd’s from charity shops and National Trust shops where the normal price is 50p per cd. If I buy new from Hyperion or Chandos the average cost is about £10.

Bought this album yesterday. Both formats vinyl and CD.

Empty house this Sunday morning…

So, just listened to SW “the harmony codex” all the way through, (proper listen, reasonable sound level)… Amazing.

Note: had played sections of the album several times already - several tracks available prior to release - streaming from Qobuz. So, already knew it was likely a “good un”.

Some albums are a slow burn. Others are an instant hit. But no guarantees, sometimes albums are played once or twice and don’t really impress beyond. However, this one is an instant hit and a keeper.

it’s such a good album. Love this new piece from Mr Wilson. As expected from SW, exceptional production in the studio. Right now, might suggest his best work to date. That good.

Happy listening

So when you talk about £3 - £4 you only refer to pre-owned CDs, right? The minimum price I’ve seen around for a new CD is usually around 7-12€ which is similar to £8 - £13 if I’m not mistaken.
I think @Maury_Finkle is buying new CDs, but I’m probably wrong as the price is pretty low…
The other day I was checking CD prices in a shop in my town and unluckily the average price is around 20€.

Yes second hand. With classical, many recordings that I am interested in are only available as second hand purchases.

I think I should check more pre-owned CDs sooner or later. Some CDs I’m interested in can be hard to get hold of. I do understand your point very well even though I mostly look for jazz recordings. I’ve struggled to find some soundtracks as well.

no, no no - these are all S/H CDs which is why they’re so cheap.

i wouldn’t be buying at this rate if they were €10 or more…

This makes more sense now!

Starting to build a nice little collection of Spoon now.
