Nickelback “Silver Side Up”
CD has to be played on a Pioneer Stable Platter CD player.
This is the “light-free” version…
No Gareth Gates?
Sadly, no. Although I did think he was better than Will Young, who, iirc murdered the Doors’ “Light my Fire” ![]()
Does it still have the pulsing red LED?
Pretty sure not. This is a current issue, not original 90’s. I think the "led"issue was not available for too long, but I’m not that much of a Pink Floyd afficianado, so I could be incorrect.
Shame. My LED died many years ago. I’ve always wondered how difficult it would be to change the battery.
I was thinking the same. I recall finding an online ‘guide’ of sorts somewhere. Seemed easy enough with a bit of care. I’ll have to search for it again.
Re: Pulse:
I removed the flasher PCB from the cardboard sleeve and took the battery out to stop it leaking.
I then made a replacement flasher suitable for a normal CD case and had this on my shelf for a while but when that battery needed replaceing the novelty wore off.
Don’t think I’ve noticed anyone else post Carolin No…I frequently play the ‘Backstage’ album.
Backstage is a great album! Maybe they are not big in listener numbers, but they sure do know how sound quality is defined. In pop music they are far above average. And I like their song texts and melodies very much. Of course it helps when you understand German, as their latest albums are all sung in that language. They are also on Primares latest issue, I guess that’s quite a good statement on how good their sound is.
Hans Zimmer will be a hard act to follow.
We have the CD of the original movie, and daughter#2 bought me a “special” double LP for a birthday. Magnificent.
Agreed, and after a first listen not sure if Harry G-W has managed it…….
Update: sadly not ![]()

Ayanna Witter-Johnson -Road Runner
Heard on Radio 3. Difficult to pigeonhole. I liked the background and felt she deserved my custom. Bought direct and delivered with a personal message.
A very good comp, as are others in the series.
More 50p a pop. I’m enjoying CD on my vintage (sic) Pioneer and Topping DAC more than streaming right now.
(The sound in the background is my wife’s eyes rolling, though she has to admit the Walton is wonderful and I’d forgotten it completely).
