Thanks for posting this. I’ve been moving my CDs out of the garage and into the office/music room as I rediscover my physical media - had to use space saving sleeves, but it’s all done now.
So, I have “Awakening” and playing it now. I’d forgotten what a great album it is, but lost track of the band - need to address that.
I found a Karnataka CD too. So much old music to rediscover.
The out-of-tune piano played by Mal at the Five Spot only adds to the appeal IMO. One of the greatest live jazz recordings ever captured on disk - all 3 vols.
I only really know him from the Mingus group, this is quite something, sounds very “present” even on my modest aging system, and there are two more volumes…?
Yes, while the second is called Vol. 2, the third one is called the Memorial Album. If you are thinking of buying them all you might be better off going for the Complete set, which is available on a double CD.
I have all the studio albums and some remasters as well. The first 3 Hansa albums are Japanese pressings. I also have a playlist of the content of the album but the completist in me kept itching.
This is the unedited double album not the single CD version.
