Hi Kuma, It’s a petty that you stepped out that long ago. Jazz is constantly renewing and thriving into mixing with modern popular music or finding other new roads. The name of promising and established new names in modern jazz is endless and there albums and concerts give me great pleasure.

Infected Mushroom last night at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg. Great DJ set from the Israeli duo celebrating 30 years of making music together.
Bill Bruford a short while ago with the Pete Roth Trio at Swanage. Back after ‘retirement’ and in terrific form. Must be 25 years since I last saw him with ‘Earthworks’ at Pizza Express.
Well, I would go see Matheny if someone is going to pay for the ticket. 
I remember vividly when I was in the U of Michigan Ann Arbor some of my friends were going to see him 46 years ago!
Actually I do like his Falcon and Snowman soundtrack!

So far all the new jazz players suggested by my friends did not even come close to the energy and swing of old masters.
Those old jazz from the 50s and 60s just make me feel like at home. I just go ahhh… after I listen to the modern jazz program.
I will see him in 11 minutes at North Sea Jazz with an orchestra he gave the conductor the freedom to completely reimagine the album Bright Size Live, and tonight this will be performed live.
Tomorrow I can see him again with a live concert based on his last album.
Was a bit concerned that he would stop performing a couple of years back - but still have seen him performing since then.
I’m gelose about missing this. I saw his latest album presentation, and he brought the house down.
We’ll go to see Gregory Porter on Monday in Modena in a double concert with Diana Krall.
Tonight went to see La Bohème in the Arena di Verona. 30 minutes in the skies opened and a thunderstorm brought the performance to an untimely end. How tragic!
oh no. I hope noone got hurt! I love thunderstorms. But from afar.
This is the result of last thunderstorm we had over July 4th. 
No-one hurt and consolation was being back in time for the match.

Thrum - Just dropped in Records in Coventry
I just bought the reissue of their first album and fell in love with it. Saw they were playing in Coventry last Friday. Oh hell why not bought tickets day before and off we went.
Absolutely fantastic! What a voice Monica has! Last song was a real slowed down version of the Ramones Sheena is a punk rocker!

Greg Abate fits right into your category and remains one of the best bop/post-bop saxophonist/flautists around, touring over 200 days a year. Here he is yesterday playing ‘Recorda Me’ on flute at Swanage. Lovely !
The last concert for me on Friday at North Sea Jazz Festival was the quartet of Joshua Redman. It was easily the best concert of the evening. He was apparently already 20 times at this festival - I have seen him always in the last 10 times I went in the last 13 years. What is very clear with him is the moving with his legs when he plays a solo. Most sax players seem to do it but he is quite explicit moving legs in the air.
I found out later that the concert resumed at around half past midnight and lasted until around 3am for those patient enough to wait three hours during the rain!
It’s my back yard. 
Miraculously it avoided my house or next door apartment building. However I lost my stone bench and bird bath. Limbs fell on top of them.
